Last orders: Cauliflower!
Finally grew some cauliflower seedlings and got them out under nets. Phew.
I had massive difficulties with cauliflowers this year. Lost two sowings – both damped off inexplicably. I did the same things at the same time and in the same way I do them every year. But no joy.
These have just enough time to head before the weather closes down. But it will be a close call.
I have a similar problem with my lettuce…now the my town, Seattle, WA, US, is known for its rainy and wet weather, cool, overcast summers and general lack of heat. Normally, I have a such a bumper crop of lettuce we have a hard time keeping up with it (tomatoes ripen sometime in late August or September). This year the lettuce germinated, showed its first leaves and then stopped…in two months the lettuce hasn’t grown an inch. Sigh…

I want to get some more caulis in the ground …really should get that sorted!!
