Semi-returned
Hello. I’m half back in gardening mode.
I say half. More like one tenth. I’m getting to the plot very irregularly and my gardening has become pretty shit and dilatory. Work is just eating too much of my time.
BUT I’m gardening again. Pix coming shortly to prove it.
Hurray! I found your website last year, just prior to your last post. I have read every single post on the site and have been checking regularly, hoping that you would return. It is so nice to have a gardening site that provides brilliant advice with a laugh. I’m a pessimistic (realistic) British ex-pat battling the New York State weather, bugs, pests and diseases. If the permafrost ever retreats sufficiently to plant, the rabbits, skunk and woodchucks will feast or hot weather, combined with high humidity will ensure that everything I want to grow will succumb to powdery mildew, rust and late blight. I can’t wait — let the 2015 gardening games begin!

Hi Deb. Thanks for kind words. Is a woodchuck a groundhog??

Yes, woodchuck are also known as groundhog. While I complain about them, they are probably better than the weathermen at predicting our weather conditions.

Hi SM, good to see you back…even if it is only a little bit!! I think work and life often eats away at all of us…I know I certainly haven’t been as diligent of late but hopefully this is the years that it works out right for us all!!

Hi Soilman — a big welcome back.
No doubt the plot has reverted to nature over the time you couldn’t do any gardening, and that’s bound to be discouraging, but you’re a gardener at heart and you know you’ll get it back into shape.
A little at a time is probably better than blitzing it and ending up incapacitated for the next week with a bad back.
A bed bed of spuds would be a good start — my Irish default solution!

Have been checking bookmark for aaaages now, so pleased to see you back. Weather a bit cold for doing much gardening here in SNP land but at least the earlies are through the ground (under fleece).
